Obituary of William D. Smith, Jr.

William D Smith, Jr., 82, of Lexington, SC, passed away September 13, 2021. He was born on July 24, 1939 in Batesburg, SC, to the late Julia Smith and William D. Smith, Sr. 

In addition to his parents, W.D. was preceded in death by his brother, James Roy Smith; his sister, Carrie Lee Ruth; and a step-daughter, Rhonda Parker. W.D. is survived by his wife of 16 years, Joyce A. Smith; sons, Lindsey Smith (Rhea Anna) and Johnnie Smith (Dana); two daughters, Patricia Ann and Jackie Smith; and a brother, Robert Smith. He is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

W.D. was a member of St. David Lutheran Church, where he served as an Usher.  

A service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 2:00pm at St. David Lutheran Church, 132 St. David's Church Rd, West Columbia, SC 29170. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, September 17, 2021 at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC  29073.
