Obituary of Amanda McLendon McLemore

Amanda McLendon McLemore June 27, 1970 – August 01, 2021

For almost three years, Amanda McLendon McLemore “Mandy” valiantly battled breast cancer. With the love of God in her heart and the support of her family and friends, she relentlessly fought with determination and courageously tackled each set back. As various parts of her body suffered one attack of cancer after another, her inner faith, strength and wisdom grew with no boundaries. On August 01, 2021, Mandy’s body succumbed to the raging disease but her loving spirit and willingness to fight live on. Her life is defined by her never-ending love for her parents, husband, son, brothers and their families, friends and all her little children. Mandy was born on June 27, 1970 to Thomas and Jackie McLendon of West Columbia. Raised with two loving brothers, Temmy and Brian, Mandy was their princess. She enjoyed a wonderful childhood, always giving back more love than expected. She was a graduate of Airport High School and University of South Carolina, Early Childhood Education, and a Nationally Board Certified teacher. In 2000 she married her true love, Scott McLemore and a few years later Mandy and Scott were blessed with their son, Jack Thomas McLemore. They took great pains in raising him to be a faith-filled, loving, caring and wise man and are so proud of him. Mandy spent over 27 years devoted to the kindergarteners she taught at Claude A Taylor, Davis Elementary and Cayce Elementary. Her love for every student could never be questioned. With a goal of always making each child feel special and loved, she gave unselfishly to each of them and, in turn, they became another catalyst to keep her fighting. As Mandy said, “teaching was always more than a profession to me.” She spent a lifetime putting others first, even during her darkest days. “I want my family and friends to know how much I love them and how proud of them I am.” Surviving Mandy are her husband of 21 years, Thomas Scott McLemore, son Jack Thomas McLemore, parents Thomas (Mac) and Jackie McLendon, niece, Lilly McLendon, nephew Trey (Krissy) McLendon, sisters-in-law Ceil McLendon and Cher McLendon, father-in-law Henry McLemore, brother-in-law Justin McLemore and her beloved families at the Elementary Schools. She is pre-deceased by brothers, Thomas (Temmy) McLendon Jr. and Brian Patrick McLendon. Mandy was a special and unforgettable woman, full of love for everyone and with a burning desire to give to others. It was her hope that God needs her now to help take care of some little children in heaven. Her light and giving unto others will live on in all the lives she has touched and in all the children she has taught.
