Obituary of Roger M Brazell

Mr. Roger M. Brazzell, age 69 of Sandersville, formerly of Eastover, SC passed away on July 31, 2021 at Heritage Inn in Sandersville, following an extended illness. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, August 3, at 2:00p.m. at Ridgeland Heights Baptist Church in Sandersville. Reverend Tony Mimbs will officiate.

 

Mr. Brazzell was born on August 23, 1951, the son of the late Andrew J. Brazzell and the late Louise Brazzell. He was a plumber by trade, working for Richland County School District One until his retirement. Mr. Brazzell was a member of Grandview Baptist Church in Eastover, SC where he was always willing to do anything that was needed. One of Mr. Brazzell’s greatest passions was mentoring young boys though the Royal Ambassadors of the Southern Baptist Convention. He enjoyed being able to teach these young boys lessons from the Bible as well as taking them on track meets within the association. Mr. Brazzell also sang in the church choir and was always willing to cook for church functions no matter how big or small. Faith was important to Mr. Brazzell, and he was ordained as a deacon at the early age of 17. Mr. Brazzell was also a very patriotic man. In his spare time, he enjoyed listening to music, especially hymns and Southern Gospel. In addition to his parents, Mr. Brazzell is preceded in death by his siblings, James Zachary Brazzell and Thelma Brazzell Swann.

 

Mr. Brazzell is survived by his wife of 46 years, Marlene McMichael Brazzell; daughter Dawn Marie Brazzell of Sandersville; siblings Patricia Brazzell Patterson (Billy) of Columbia, SC, Marsha Brazzell Robinson (Jimmy) of Summerton, SC, Randy Brazzell (Kathy) of Eastover, SC, and Myra Brazzell Pearson of Greenwood, SC; sisters-in-law, Karen McMichael of Sandersville, and Sarah Rhodes of Columbia, SC; and several nieces and nephews.

 

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 1:00p.m. until the hour of the service at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Association, 17 Executive Park Suite 115, Atlanta, Ga. 30329-2012.
