Obituary of Fred Francis Knotts

Fred Francis Knotts, 86, of Gaston, died Wednesday, July 28, 2021. Born in Lamar, SC on September 15, 1934, Fred was the son of Nila Fallaw Knotts and Elisha Knotts. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Veneita Foster, Louise Watford, Lawson Knotts, Marguerite Cousar, Enoree McClam, and Julian Knotts. He is also predeceased by his son, Timothy Knotts and grandson, Richard Knotts.

Surviving are his wife, Peggy Norris Knotts; daughters, Frances Dimery and Jeannie Stevens (Jerry); daughter-in-law, Elisabeth Knotts; son, Alan Knotts (Sandra); stepson, Michael Boone (Cheryl); and nephew, William Watford (Amy). Grandchildren are: Jason Dimery, Heather Dimery Trice, Alan Knotts Jr., Amanda Flowers, Holly Stevens, Ryan Stevens, Russell Knotts, Randall Knotts, Nicole Edenfield, and Joe Boone; and ten great grandchildren.

Mr. Knotts retired from Michelin North America.  He loved to fish and especially enjoyed going on deep sea fishing trips.  He was a true puzzle aficionado and loved crossword puzzles. His favorite program on the “telly” was TV news. He loved sports and was an avid Braves fan. Until his health declined, he enjoyed his garden and loved being outdoors.

Visitation will be held from 2:00-3:00pm at Woodridge Memorial Park Mausoleum, 138 Corley Mill Road, on Sunday, August 1, 2021.  Immediately following the visitation, a Celebration of Life will take place at the Mausoleum at 3:00pm.  The funeral service will conclude with interment at Woodridge Memorial Park.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to Opus Post Acute Rehabilitation facility and Compassionate Care Amedisys Hospice group for their excellent care and help.
