Obituary of Bradley Brent Ayers

Bradley Brent Ayers, age 32, died unexpectedly from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on June 30, 2021, in Columbia, SC.

He is survived by his wife, Sarah Ayers; his children, Gabriel Ayers, Joseph Ayers, Zaelea Ayers, and Brian Ayers; his mother, Debbie Woodyard, and stepfather, Curtis Woodyard; his grandmother, Betty O’Hara; his grandmother, Wyoline Woodyard; his siblings, Amber Baugh and Brett Ayers (Kristin); his nephew, Brennen Ayers, and niece Brooklynn Ayers; his father-in-law, Laird Culver, and mother-in-law, Rebecca Culver; his sister-in-law Rachael Culver; and his former spouse, Michelle Morgan, mother of Gabriel and Joseph. He is preceded in death by his father, Byron Ayers; his grandfather, Bernard “Ben” Clyde Baugh; his grandfather, Rudolph Woodyard; and his great-grandmother, Mildred “Mig” Johnson.

Bradley Brent Ayers was born on August 9, 1988 in Silver Spring, MD, to parents Debbie Lee Baugh and Byron Brent Ayers. He graduated from Leroy High School in 2006. Bradley joined the United States Army Reserves in 2005 and went on to take a few courses at the University of South Alabama. After deciding college wasn’t for him, he took the leap and made the United States Army a full-time career. He was a proud army engineer, missile technician, and gunner. Bradley was medically retired, in 2013, after serving 8 years. He moved to Columbia, SC in 2015 to pursue new career opportunities and began working as a cable technician for AT&T. In 2015, he also met Sarah and their romance quickly blossomed. Together, they made the move to Birmingham, AL in 2016 and were wed on April 16th of the same year. Once in AL, he switched over to working as a cable technician and trainer for Spectrum. Bradley’s real passion was working with computers and he always went after what he wanted. He decided to make another career change and was hired on by WILL Tech, a U.S. Army contractor at Ft. Rucker, AL, as an IT Specialist. He quickly moved up but wanted to be able to provide more for his family because they were always his priority. After diligently applying for several positions, Bradley was offered a job as a Department of the Army Civilian IT Specialist at Ft. Jackson in 2020. He and his family returned to Columbia, SC in the middle of a pandemic and happily reunited with friends.

Bradley was a loving father and husband and always put his family first. He was a die-hard Alabama fan who rarely missed watching the Crimson Tide play, a proud Mason, and master griller. He was an avid motorcycle rider and enjoyed the freedom it brought him. Bradley loved music and singing. He couldn’t hold a tune but you better believe that he would belt it out as loudly as he could. Bradley gave the best hugs, treated his friends like family, and never met a stranger. His family and friends will always remember him as a loyal, kind, loving, stubborn, and charismatic person who knew what he wanted and went after it with his whole being.

A memorial service is scheduled for Bradley on July 17, 2021, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church at 785 Carson Road in Leroy, AL with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bradley’s life.
