Obituary of Gwendolyn Delane Smith

Gwendolyn Delane Smith, 80, of Camden, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2021. She was born on October 6, 1940, in Columbia to the late James Sidney and Gwendolyn Elizabeth Galloway.

Delane knew early on that she was a natural caretaker and enjoyed helping those in need. She dedicated 45 years of her life to a career in nursing as an RN. Even after her retirement, she never stopped caring for those around her. She was a loving mother, grandma “Bean/Bain,” sister, daughter, friend, etc. Delane’s kind heart will be missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.

If you were lucky enough to know our vibrant, ferocious, sassy, fun-loving mom, grandma, and sister, etc. you knew you were in the presence of someone special. She brought energy to any room. We will carry that energy within our hearts forever. Thank you, "Bean/Bain," for giving our family the greatest gift of all, you. We love you a bushel and a peck.

Delane is survived by her children, Kim Lynch (John predeceased), Cindy Titus (Scott) and Andrew Smith; her grandchildren, Nicholas Smith, Kellie White, Brandon Smith, Lauren Browder (Patrick), Sydney White, Dillon Smith, Nicole Yandle and Christopher Titus; and her great-grandchildren, Caden Whiteside, Karsyn Studebaker, Ryan Simpson, Forrest Browder and McKenzie Scott, and sisters Brenda "Bebe" Grubbs and Treasure Teague (Alan).  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son Christopher Scott Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at Springdale Baptist Church in West Columbia.  The family will receive friends from 11:00-11:45 a.m. prior to the service at the church.   Burial will follow at 4:00 p.m. at Southland Memorial Gardens.
