Obituary of Virgil O. King

Virgil King, 95, of Lexington, South Carolina,  passed away May 26, 2021, at CM Tucker Nursing Care Center Columbia, South Carolina . He was born on November 21, 1925  in Culpeper, VA, to Martha Doggett and Thomas King.  

Mr. King was predeceased by his wife of 72 years, Virginia King and by his son, Bill King.  He was also predeceased by his siblings: Thomas, Donald, Quesell, Douglas, Ginny and Allie. 

Virgil  is survived by his son, David King; daughters, Marsha Costelow (Joe), Barbara Allen (Virgil) and Joan Cash (Donald); seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Also, he is survived by his brother, Victor King (Frances) and his sister, Barbara Esworthy (John).

Mr. King retired from the United States Air Force after 29 years of service.  He served in WW II and the Korean War.  He met his wife, Virginia, in Washington, DC and they married in 1948.  Virgil and Virginia took wonderful vacations with their children across the country and continued to travel extensively after retirement.   

Funeral services will be at 11:00AM  on June 1, 2021, at Corpus Christi Catholic Church.  Interment will be at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 2:00PM.  Memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society.
