Obituary of Elizabeth Koon Timmerman

Elizabeth Koon “Penny” Timmerman of Cayce entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday March 24, 2021 at her home. Penny was born March 11, 1929 in Pomaria, SC, daughter of the late Walter Chris Koon and Willie Lee Hedgepath Koon. She was the widow of John Self "Jack" Timmerman, who preceded her in death in 1982. Penny was a dedicated member of Mt Tabor Lutheran Church where she was an active member for many years in various roles including card secretary for her Sunday School class. She loved sending cards for various occasions and sharing in the recipient’s feelings of joy or sadness.

Her funeral service will be held Saturday, March 27, 2021 at Mt Tabor Lutheran Church at 3:00 pm Visitation begins at 1:30 pm at the church. Burial will follow at the Mt Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery off Delree St. in West Columbia.

Penny graduated from Pomaria High School and Columbia College. She made many lifetime friends during her years at school. She met the love of her life in Ridge Spring at a dance and they were married for over 30 years. Surviving are daughters, Nancy Elizabeth Timmerman Blackwell and her husband, Jamie of Raleigh, NC and Angela Christie Timmerman Thomas and husband, George (Tommy) from West Columbia. She had 3 grandchildren: Emily Blackwell of Zebulon, NC, Mason Thomas and wife Emily of Columbia,  and Christie Thomas Goldsberry and husband Jacob of Elgin. She also leaves behind a sister, Billie Dove Brady of Greenville and many nieces and nephews.
