Obituary of Bruce Garner

On Thursday, March 18, 2021, Reverend Bruce E. Garner, loving husband and father of three children passed away at 69.

Born on October 16, 1951, he was the son of Rufus Irving and Marguerite (Murphy) Garner.  On October 31, 1969, he married Sally Lynn Spratlin, his high school sweetheart from Airport High School Class of 1969, and they remained married for 52 years.

Bruce served God as a minister for 40 years in various churches across Lexington County.  Prior to the ministry, he was the youngest Supervisor at Westinghouse Nuclear Fuel Division in Columbia, SC.  He retired from Harsco Track Technologies of Columbia, SC, in 2017.

Bruce was known for his kindness, infectious laugh, and his love of telling a great joke. He had a compassionate spirit and a love for teaching God’s word.

Bruce is survived by his wife, Sally Lynn; daughter, Wendy Villamar (Javier); son, Brian Garner (Elizabeth); son, Craig Garner; and five grandchildren, Ariana, Michela, Colton, Stone, and Owsley.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 23, 2021, at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington, SC, from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.
