Obituary of Marion Hay Vincent

Marion Hay Vincent, Jr., 74, passed away Saturday, March 13, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland. Born on March 12, 1947 in Columbia, SC he was a son of the late Marion Hay Vincent, Sr. and Evelyn Carter Vincent.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Wanda Vaughan Vincent; son, Carey Hay Vincent (Annie); daughter, Emily Vincent Johnson (Josh); two granddaughters, Elizabeth Hardin Johnson and Mackenzie Grace Vincent; as well as his sister, Maxine Fricke.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Henry Eaton Vincent, III.

Marion was born in Richland County and served in the United States Army. He earned numerous awards and medals including a purple heart, national defense service medal, Vietnam service medal with bronze service star, as well as a Vietnam campaign medal. After his time in the Army, he went on to build a career with the South Carolina Department of Transportation as a civil engineer. Marion enjoyed many things. He loved the outdoors, the beach, and bird watching. Above all, he loved his family and friends. His granddaughters were his greatest joy. Marion will be dearly missed.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 16, 2021 at 1pm at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Rd. Columbia, SC 29229.
