Obituary of Tara Michelle Sandy

Tara Michelle Sandy passed away Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at age 30. Tara was born March 6, 1991 to David Carl Sandy and Angela Gae Conley Sandy in Beckley, West Virginia. She is survived by her loving parents of Cayce and sisters, Kayla Sandy Cox of Aiken and Rachel Sandy of Fort Mill. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Kaley, McKenzie, Aidan, and Aaron Cox of Aiken; her brother-in-law, Robert Cox of Aiken; her grandparents, Donald and Sandra Sandy of Parkersburg, WV; her grandmother, Alice Conley of Cayce; and her beloved dog, Smokey. She was welcomed to the other side by her grandmother, Susanne Hanlon Sandy, and her grandfather, Harlan Conley, Sr., who indubitably asked what kind of mischief she’d been up to.

Tara attended Lander University and worked hard to graduate with her Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts. She overcame incredible obstacles to graduate in 2016.

Tara was a talented artist, and her smile brightened every room. To her nieces and nephews, she was their beloved Aunt TiTi who adored them and always provided the perfect alibis to their parents for any and all shenanigans (which were often instigated by her).

Tara was a loyal and gracious friend, a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, granddaughter, niece, and so much more. She loved with a heart as huge as her encyclopedic knowledge of Marvel comics—which was truly astounding. She lightened every moment with a perfectly timed joke or terrible pun. Her spunk and sass were renowned by anyone who knew her. Her joy was infectious.

Most of all, Tara loved fiercely and was fiercely loved in returned.

Visitation will be held on Monday, March 15, 2021 at 2:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington, with a service immediately following at 3:00pm.
