Obituary of Doris J. Walker
Doris J Walker went home to be with her Savior on February 21, 2021. Doris was born to Lynch and Ethel Jackson on January 30, 1934 in Converse, SC. Doris is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, Harvey L. Walker; her brother, Ben Jackson; her sister, Evie Painter; and her son, David Walker.
Doris is survived by her son, Kenneth Walker (Debbie); her daughter, Doris Jordan (Ron); daughter-in-law, Karen Walker, seven grandchildren, Christopher Walker (Karlene), Crystal Villanova (Ty), Kayla Russell (Palmer), Jason Ellis (Ashley), Kelly White (Travis), Kathleen Ellis, Carrie Wilson (Bradley); and 10 great-grandchildren.
Doris worked many miscellaneous jobs before her marriage, i.e., a peach inspector. After marriage she worked as a bookkeeper for her husband and others, including Corrugated Containers. However, she was best known for her love for her Lord and for her ability to keep antiquated items in operational and like new condition. She was saved as a young girl and lived her whole life as a godly wife, mother, neighbor and friend. Doris could often be found tending to her day lilies and irises in her beautiful yard, cooking for her family, or baking cakes to give to others as a way to show she cared. Her prayers often ended with, “Lord, keep me humble and holy,” and is appropriate to sum up her life.
The Walker family would like to extend special thanks for the outstanding care she received from the team at Agape Hospice House in her later days.
A visitation will be held for Mrs. Doris at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on Thursday, February 25, 2021, from 6-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at Christ’s Sanctified Holy Church in Perry, GA, at 2 pm on Saturday followed by interment at the church’s cemetery.
