Obituary of Vivian R. Stone
Vivian Ruth Gaskin Stone, 80, resident of Columbia, widow of Curtis Stone, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2021 at Providence Hospital.
Born July 4, 1940 in Camden, SC, she was the daughter of the Jesse Lee and Ruth Jordan Gaskin. Vivian was employed with A&P Grocery Stores for many years where she retired. Following her retirement, she became an avid crafter. She truly enjoyed assisting her daughter Debbie with making crafts and attending craft shows. She was a loving wife and mother and was very proud of every accomplishment of her children and loved them unselfishly. Vivian was of the Baptist faith.
Vivian is survived by a daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Stone of Columbia; a sister, Beverly Ann Turner (Bill) of St. Stephens, SC; five nieces and nephews, Kathy, Betsy, Frances, Michael and David Bryan Butler. She also leaves behind a great-nephew, Jacob Rice and a number of extended family members and close friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Vivian was predeceased by a son, Michael Curtis Stone and two brothers Jesse Lee Gaskin, Jr. and Jerry Gaskin.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 23rd at Thompson Funeral Home Greenlawn Chapel with the Rev. David Spears officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. The family will greet guest at a visitation from 12 Noon to 1 PM prior to the service.
