Obituary of Jessie "Buddy" L. Ard

Jessie "Buddy" L.  Ard entered eternal rest on February 19, 2021. Jessie was born to Jessie and Callie Mae Ard on October 6, 1949 in Florence County, SC. Jessie is preceded in death by his parents.

Jessie Ard is survived by his brothers and sisters, Glenda Morris, Margie Driggers, Billy Ard, Jenny Dewitt, Danny Ard, and Anita Branton; His Loving and devoted wife of 25 years, Sherrie Ard; His children, Bernice Chmarouski-Ard (Brice), Sue Broadnax (Quent), and Jennifer Collins; His 9 grandchildren; his 3 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Jessie was beloved by all that knew him. He loved life and loved everyone he met. Jessie and his wife, Sherrie, lived a joyous life filled with humor throughout their 25 year marriage. Jessie was also known to his children as a loving and caring father whom they adored. Jessie enjoyed racing stock cars and you could find his number 21 car throwing up dirt clods around the track on many weekends when he wasn’t “piddiling” around the yard. Jessie was always willing to stop what he was doing to help those in need. He loved his family, his animals, and fishing. Jessie was very proud of his service to our nation. He served in the Vietnam War as a radio operator and mechanic in the United States Army from 1968-1975 receiving an Honorable Discharge with the rank of Sergeant. Jessie L. Ard will certainly be missed by his family, friends, and community.

A visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on February 22, 2021 from 6-8 pm. A service will be held at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington on February 23, 2021 at 12 pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to the American Heart Association or to the Animal Protection League.
