Obituary of Toshiko S. Tate

Funeral services for Toshiko S. Tate, 91, of Columbia, will be held at 1:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2021 at the Chapel of Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia. Pastors David Sturgeon and Bill Wright will officiate. The family will greet friends in the chapel following the service.

Toshiko Tate was born in Tokyo, Japan in 1929. Early in her life, she moved to the United States, and upon arriving here, was amazed by the beautiful green grass and trees, having been exposed to only high-rise buildings in Tokyo. Toshiko was a kind and giving person who will be dearly missed.

She enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting, and made all of her own clothes. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, and she loved the Lord and her church family. In addition to her parents and 9 brothers and sisters, Toshiko was predeceased by her husband, Junie Tate. Toshiko is survived by her friends Marge White, Paul Sutton and many other friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens’ Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
