Obituary of Pamela DeLoach

Retired high school educator, Pam DeLoach, passed away on February 7, 2021 at the age of 63 after courageously battling, but ultimately succumbing to, complications related to an infection of the heart. Her immediate family surrounded her shortly before her passing. 

Pam earned her Master’s of Physical Education at the University of South Carolina. Pam took great pride in her career, and she shared her passion for athletics with thousands of students throughout her 38 years of teaching. “Coach DeLoach”, as she was affectionately known, was honored to have coached volleyball at both her alma mater, Irmo High School, and Dreher High School. Her energetic, charismatic demeanor were captivating on and off the court.  Nothing made her happier than watching her students develop into well-rounded individuals. 

Pam was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend. Her spunky character and adventurous personality leaves a great legacy that will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She was a wonderful woman who loved to cook, take trips to the mountains and coast, and spend time with her family.

Pam was preceded in death by her father, Lowell Hopkins; and sister, Vonda Largent.

Pam will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 36 years, Hank; daughter, Sallie (Brett) Thomas; son, Chandler (Bree); two grandchildren, Grady and Tollison; mother, Riecy Hopkins; and sister, Kim Weiss.

A graveside funeral service is scheduled for 11:00am on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at Greenlawn Memorial Park on Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC.
