Obituary of Harry Lee Simpson

Harry Lee Simpson went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2021. He was born February 20, 1934 to the late Clyde G. and Essie Mae Simpson in Cross County, AR.

Mr. Harry is survived by his wife, Eva Knight Simpson of West Columbia, SC; sisters: Jimmie Hanner of Summerville, SC and Polly Barnes of Augusta, GA; children: Boyd and Susan Jenkinson of Lexington, SC, and James Thomas Simpson of West Columbia, SC; and grandchildren: Harry and Kristina Jenkinson of Orting, WA, and Clark and Eva Lee Coston of West Columbia, SC.

Mr. Harry joined the U.S. Air Force in 1953 and served during the Korean War. Upon being honorably discharged from the service he attended the University of South Carolina and graduated in 1961 with a degree in Accounting. Harry made his career as a Revenue Officer with the IRS upon graduating college.

Mr. Harry enjoyed hunting and fishing in his free time, but his true passion was looking after the many ministries he was involved in. These include the Three Rivers Psychiatric Treatment Center, the Lexington County Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the His House Ministry of which he was a founding member.

Services will be held privately by Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington per his family's request. A public Memorial Service will be announced by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Lexington County Fellowship of Christian Athletes at 3172 Wilton Road, West Columbia, SC 29170.
