Obituary of Elinor Askins Jordan

Elinor Askins Jordan died Sunday, January 10, 2021 at her Columbia, SC home. She was 83.

Mrs. Jordan was born on August 4, 1937 to the late C.B. Askins, Sr. and Sue Daniel Askins. She was raised in Lake City, SC where she graduated from Lake City High School. She also attended Coker College and majored in Music. She married Ronald E. Jordan on October 2, 1958. They were married for 51 years and raised 4 children.

Mrs. Jordan was actively involved in church activities, especially her church choir, where she was known for her beautiful soprano voice. She also taught piano lessons for many years, and served as a substitute school teacher. She loved to garden, fish, play bridge, read, and spend time with her family. She laughed often and enjoyed making others laugh as well.

She is survived by her 4 children, Susanne (Larry) Witteborg of Lexington, Larry (Lou Ann) Jordan of Rockmart, GA, Sharon Jordan of Lexington, and Daniel (Jackie) Jordan of Columbia; 8 grandchildren, Ronnie Davis, Chip (Jurgita) Jordan, Patrick (Carly) Jordan, Christopher (Miriam) Jordan, Eric (Jessica) Witteborg, Laryn Jordan-Rogers, Jaxon, and Pierce Kopac; 9 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at 2pm in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 7100 Garners Ferry Rd. Columbia, SC 29209.
