Obituary of Mary Alice Mitchem

Mary Alice Mitchem, 71, of South Carolina, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at Prisma Health Richland Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina.

Born in May 1949, in Harlan, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Glenn and Dorothy Baker.  She was a loving mother and grandmother.  She worked as a housekeeper for several years at the Charles Town Baptist Church in WV.  She loved to plant flowers and work in her flower beds.  She was an avid cat and dog mom.  She also enjoyed baking, especially desserts.

Her husband, Ernest Mitchem, preceded her in death in 2013.

Surviving are her son, Shaun Mitchem, of West Columbia, SC and daughter, Nicole Rose of Bunker Hill, WV.  Five grandchildren: Sevanna Rose Warner, Ryan, Cailee, Sophia and Bella Rose.  Three great grandchildren:  Evan, Ariel, and Olivia Warner. One sister, Sue Duvall and two brothers, Junior and Frank Baker.

Chapel Service will be held at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at Omps South Chapel, Front Royal Pike, Winchester, Virginia  Entombment will be at Shenandoah Memorial Park.
