Obituary of Marvin Edward Martin, Jr.

Marvin Edward “Eddie” Martin, Jr. passed away unexpectedly on December 31, 2020 at his home. Born September 26, 1954 in Richland County, he was the son of the late Marvin E. Martin, Sr. and Estelle Marie Lail Martin.

Eddie was a retired carpenter, but was also talented in many other areas and could do most any job he set his mind to. Eddie loved nature and being outdoors. He was an avid hunter, but his greater passion was fishing. Over the years he won many fishing tournaments and was known for the very large stripers he often caught. He was known by many local people around the Saluda River for his fishing skills and was always willing to offer advice and tips to others who longed to know how to fish like him.

Eddie is survived by his sisters, Diane Hutchinson of Lexington, Deborah Gainey of Pelion; several nieces and nephews; companion, Diane Martin; many close friends; and fur babies, Mikie and Bootsie.

Due to the pandemic, a celebration of Eddie’s life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
