Clyde Campbell, Jr.

Obituary of Clyde Thomas Campbell, Jr.

Clyde Thomas Campbell, Jr. (Tommy) passed away on December 24, 2020.  He was born May 24, 1953, in Columbia to Carolyn Stanley Campbell and the late Clyde Thomas Campbell, Sr.  He was predeceased by a son, Bryan Thomas Campbell.

Tommy had worked with his Dad in heating and air since the age of 5. After graduating from Airport High School in 1971, he went to work for Central Heating and Air and stayed there 16 years. In 1992, he opened Piedmont Heating and Air with his then wife, Gail. In 2005, he changed the name to Tommy Campbell Heating and Air.

Tommy served as President of Lexington Youth Football and Cheerleading for many years. He loved spoiling the children there and they knew to say, “Tommy said so,” if they wanted snacks from the canteen. He always wanted people to think he was tough, but he had the biggest heart around. If you met him, you were his friend. If you were his friend and needed something, all you had to do was ask.

He is survived by his mother; daughter, Shannon Parsons (Kent); and grandsons: Sterling, Campbell, Graham and Jennings, all of West Columbia. He is survived by three sisters: Diane Bevel, Gail Rivers (Ben) and Lisa Gantt (John); and multiple nieces and nephews. He is survived by his ex-wives Pat Robinson, Gail Campbell, Phyllis Campbell and Vicki Brickhouse. He is also survived by his step-children Kelly Pitts and Christopher Pitts. He will be greatly missed.

Current and former employees and friends will serve as pallbearers. They are: Charles Dheel, Nick Epting, Matt Lumpkin, Christopher Pitts, Roscoe Walters and Bill Yandle.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 2, 2020 at Southland Memorial Gardens.
