Obituary of Barry "Claye" Manning

Barry “Claye” Manning was born October 20, 1956, to Leo and Louise Manning. In 1989, he met and married Sondra Rohrer. They moved to Lexington, SC.

Claye was very involved with West Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church and later became a founding member of Life Springs Worship Center. He enjoyed singing, acting in various productions at the church, and working with Men’s Ministries. He was the Men’s Ministries president for 8 years.

He enjoyed wood-working, gardening, and was an avid hunter. Claye’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, sharing a joke, and giving the absolute best hugs. Claye was employed by Matheson Tri-gas since 2001 and had driven a tractor trailer for over 40 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Sondra; His children: Melanie (husband Marc) of Mossy Head, FL, Erin (husband Eric) of Carthage, NC, Tyler (wife Elizabeth) of Wagener, SC. He also had 5 grandchildren: Joshua, Shelby, Trey, Emma, and Caroline. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Manning of Niceville, FL, and his sister, Dale Roberson (husband Mark) of Troy, NC.

Visitation will be held at Thompson Funeral Home on Saturday, January 2, 2021 at 12:30.

Services will follow at 1:00 pm with graveside service (approximately 2:30 pm) at Woodridge Memorial Park in Lexington.
