Obituary of Marlene Creech

Marlene Creech, 80, of West Columbia, passed away at her home peacefully on December 16, 2020. Born on September 22, 1940 in West Columbia, she was the daughter of the late Gladys & Isaac Bartley. Marlene was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. 

Marlene is survived by her beloved grandson, Zachary Hill. Marlene was predeceased by her parents and daughter, LaBruce Barfield Hill.

As a true Southern woman, Marlene enjoyed hosting and engaging in her community. She was an exceptional friend and a committed neighbor. While Marlene may have had a small stature, her personality was larger than life.  She was also a dedicated Christian and faithfully attended Grace Baptist Church her entire life.

A small graveside service celebrating Marlene’s life will be held at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209, at 3 p.m. on December 21, 2020. The Rev. Matthew Greg will be officiating. Thompson Funeral Home of Columbia is assisting the family with arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Heart of Hospice Foundation, 134 Columbus Street, Charleston, SC 29403. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Heart of Hospice for their loving and attentive care.
