Loyal G. "Buddy" Adams

Obituary of Loyal G. "Buddy" Adams

Loyal G. (Buddy) Adams, Jr.,  96, of Columbia, SC, transitioned into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 10, 2020, at home surrounded by family. He was born on April 30, 1924 in Chattanooga, TN to the late Margaret and Loyal Adams, Sr.

After high school, Buddy joined the U.S. Marine Corps where he served his country proudly and heroically during WW II on The Island of Okinawa.

After serving his country, he joined the ranks of the Prudential Insurance Company and was offered many promotions, always saying no because he didn't want to be away from his family. After 30 years with Prudential, where he received many awards and accolades and made life long friendships, Prudential Instituted a method of training and still uses it today called "The Buddy System". He retired at age 60 where he became a motivational speaker.

Buddy met and married the love of his life, Kathryn W. Adams. They were married for 50 wonderful years. Kathy and Buddy enjoyed many activities together, especially the beach, where he met Kathy, rock hunting, traveling and dancing. They would dance the night away at "The Club" as Buddy was a founding member of The Wildwood Country Club. They were affectionally known as " The Dancers". He was an avid golfer and his team mates called him a deadly putter.

Buddy attended the University of Tennessee and was a lifelong fan of his beloved "Vols".

He lived in Wildewood on Wood Duck Road for 40 years where he developed friends for life with his special neighbors, "The Wooduckians".

Buddy was full of life, an extremely happy man and very funny. A great story teller of his very event filled life. His constant answer to "How are you?" was "I 'm happy" or "Have a good day, I will, it's up to me".

Buddy is survived by his daughter, Janice Adams Butler (Tony), grandsons, Bryan Poole, Eric Butler (fiancée Sarah), a son, Kim Trantham, grand-daughters, Evelyn Bruner, M.D. (Michael), Cecelia Trantham, grandson, Neyland Trantham, great-grandson, Caleb Bruner and great-granddaughter, Mattie Mae Bruner; a brother, Charles Adams (Louise) of Atlanta, GA; a sister, Betty Lyles of Navarre Beach, FL and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his very special friend, John Sims.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathy and beloved baby sister, Estelle.

A special thanks to Home Instead Health Care and Lighthouse Hospice Service.  Also we would like to extend a special thanks to Torey Watson.
