Obituary of William "Bill" Phillip Sulser

William “Bill” Phillip Sulser, 80, resident of West Columbia, Widower of Rebecca ”Becky” Keene Sulser, was called home on November 20, 2020.

Born August 23, 1940 in Cumberland, MD, he was the son of the late Kenneth Wright and Evelyn Burke Sulser.  Bill entered the industrial field early in his career with Kelly Springfield Tire Company and later joined the Champion Road Machinery Team which relocated him to South Carolina.  He worked for Colite Industries and later owned his own business, Vogue Press.  After selling his business he worked for Richland Industrial until his retirement.

Bill was very involved in his community as a lifetime coach in youth sports.  He was a Scout Master and continued to volunteer with the Boy Scouts his entire adult life.  He was a member of the Columbia Lions Club, Free Masons and numerous other organizations.  Bill was a faithful member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church where he was involved in many church roles.  Most of all Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, with his greatest joy being spending time with his family.

Bill is survived by three sons, Kenneth Sulser of West Columbia, Kyle Sulser (Dana) and Trever Sulser (Amber) both of Lexington; two daughters, Theresa Elliott (Michael) of Corydon, Indiana and Amanda Sulser of Columbia; two step-children, Teresa Smith of Beaufort and David “Woody” Woodbury of Columbia; two sisters, Lois Green of Columbia and Suetta Griffith of Waynesboro VA; a brother, Norman Sulser of Mechanicsville, VA; ten grandchildren Jonathan, Shauna, Lydia, Kenneth Jr., Steven, Zack, McKenzie, Angel, Trever Jr., Emily, Anna and Mary Catherine; great grandchildren Peryn, Paelyn, Kenneth III, William, Kallem, Isabella, Ariel and Graham, as well as other loving family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 5pm on Tuesday, November 24th at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington with the Rev. Kevin Cooley officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America Troop 331 care of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Rd, West Columbia SC, 29169.  Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington is assisting the Sulser family.
