Obituary of Ruth A. Metcalf

Mrs. Ruth A. Metcalf got her angel wings on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 at her home in Gaston, SC.

Mrs. Metcalf was born September 2, 1942 in Columbia, SC to the late Ernest W. and Annie Mae Brazell. Mrs. Metcalf was married to the late Jimmy L. Metcalf for 43 years.

Ruth Metcalf, also known as "Two Mama", was a stay-at-home mother until she started to work for Case Produce at the SC State Farmers Market. She decided to be in business for herself at the SC State Farmers Market by opening a produce stand that kept her busy for four years, then she worked in produce for Winn Dixie in South Congaree.

Mrs. Metcalf is survived by her children, Jimmy W. Metcalf, Rita A. Showalter, Angela M. Maxwell, Mona L. Cerda (Miquel), Christopher J. Metcalf and Ashley V. Akers-Corley (Jamie). She is also is survived by 17 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren whom she loved dearly, as well as her brother, James Brazell. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ernestine Martin, Ernest Brazell and Donald Brazell. 

There will be a Graveside Service for Mrs. Metcalf on Friday, November 20, 2020 at 1:00pm at Midway Methodist Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Thompson Funeral Home, 200 State Street, West Columbia, SC.

She was loved and adored by all!!!
