Obituary of Naomi Kay Martin
Naomi Kay Martin, 76, of West Columbia died on Thursday, November 5, 2020 while a patient at Prisma Richland Memorial Hospital after an unexpected illness. Born in Ellsworth, MI on December 30, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Taylor and Lucille L. Taylor (Hodges).
Before happily enjoying her retirement, she was an Account Analyst at Trans Union Credit Bureau. Known to most as “Kay”, she was an avid dog lover, talented crochetier and passionate about giving back to her community.
Mrs. Martin was predeceased by her husband, Jerome R. Martin, who she loyally and lovingly took care of for many years when he became incapacitated from a stroke shortly after they were married.
Surviving are daughters Karen Boatwright (John) of Lexington, SC, Connie Waswick (Shawn) of Lexington, SC, Debra Zawacki of Warren, MI and son Edward Zawacki (Linda) of Warren, MI.
Mrs. Martin is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren that she loved dearly, hugged often and spoiled to the best of her ability.
Services will be held at 2pm on Wednesday, November 11, 2020 at the Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington at 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service. Kay’s final resting place will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lexington County Recreation & Aging Commission or Pawmetto Lifeline in Columbia, SC.
