Duane Whinery passed away at his home September 26, 2020. Born in Lodi, Ohio, he was the son of the late Wallace Daniel Whinery and Wanda J Hall Whinery. Duane was an incredibly hard working and loving husband, father and grandfather. His twelve grandchildren nicknamed him “Pocket”, and he really enjoyed that name. He cherished his family and friends, and they meant everything to him.

Duane was the most selfless person we’ve ever known. His “door was always open” and he made everyone feel welcomed. Duane was always available and happy to help; he’d take the shirt off of his own back to help anyone in need.

He loved to go fishing with his kids. Any chance he had to sneak in a game of black-ops, he did.  His favorite shows on T.V. were “Dr. Pol”, wrestling, and several automotive restoration shows. Duane was a great machinist, and really enjoyed his work. He could make anything out of metal, but nothing out of wood; although he would always make a grand effort. He did everything with love, and to the best of his ability. He had stories and jokes that went on for days, and he always did his best to make someone smile. Duane was a lifelong Cleveland Browns fan, and member of the “Dawg Pound”.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Tammy McManus Whinery; son, Daniel Dwayne McManus (Brittany) of Gilbert; daughters, Lisa Maria Browning of Gaston, Amanda Avene Whinery of Gaston; son, Brandon Lee Whinery (Beverly) of Lexington; grandchildren, Tyler, Jacob, Kayla, Hailey, Madilynn, Noah, Elijah, Levi, Silas, Dexter, James, Archer; sisters, Dorothy Remington (Bill) of Florida, Diane Ellison (John) of Ohio, Darlene Kundrat (Larry) of Ohio. Duane was predeceased by his parents.
