Obituary of George Thomas "Tommy" Grubbs

George Thomas “Tommy” Grubbs, Jr, 63, of Pelion, husband of Angela K. Winters Grubbs, passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born April 28, 1957 in Columbia, SC, he was the son of Lillian Corbett Grubbs and the late George Thomas Grubbs, Sr. Tommy was employed with Watertight Systems for many years prior to his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed hunting.  He was also an excellent cook and would often fire up the smoker to cook some mouthwatering Bar-B-Que. Through his cooking experiments, he became a great baker as well. He was a huge Clemson fan and enjoyed all Clemson sports, especially football. Tommy loved his family dearly and cherished the time he spent with them. He instilled the importance of family to all he met. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife and mother are, five daughters, Misty Grubbs, Rebecca Grubbs-Nicholson, Charlene Landry, Mercedes Wheeler and Savannah Wheeler; a sister, Vicki Lankford; three brothers, Larry, Gerald and Brian Grubbs; nine grandchildren, Zakariya, Brooklyn, Adalyn, Felicity, Aiden, Aaliyah, Brooklyn, Colton and Chloe; a mother-in-law and her husband, Heidi and Vance Dulin; a father-in-law, Vince and Tracy Winters, and a nephew Jonathan Grubbs.

Funeral services will be held at 5 PM on Sunday, September 20th at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington with the Rev. Fred Gray officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 3:30 to 5 PM.
