Obituary of Mary Jewell Nixon Green

Mary Jewell (Nixon) Green, 94, of Columbia SC, passed away September 10, 2020 in Columbia. Mary was born May 11, 1926 in Millegeville, GA. She was married to Sgt Maj Joe N. Green for 59 years.  

Mary is survived by her daughter Jo Anne Henry, son-in-law Leonard O. Henry III of Lexington; grandson Michael Henry of Belleville, IL; great granddaughter Caitlin Henry of Manhattan, KS; and great grandson Nathan Henry of Belleville, IL.

Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Green, and her parents.

Mary was one of those persons with a “green thumb”. She loved flowers and plants. She was truly a kind, compassionate, sweet lady and for many years after Joe’s passing, she doted on her little dog “Louie”. She will be sorely missed by all those who knew her.
