Obituary of Kay Diana Hale

WEST COLUMBIA – Kay Diana Hale, 75, died unexpectedly September 12, 2020, of a seizure, at Lexington Medical Center.  She was born July 30, 1945, in Anniston, Alabama, the daughter of William L., Sr., and Leona Smelcher. 

Kay was retired from Fort Jackson Commissary.  She loved shopping at thrift stores, gardening, writing poems, dining out with friends and family, and getting her hair done.

In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, MSG Rabon C. Hale, and her brother Preston Wayne Chandler.

Survivors include her daughter, Gwen Page (Steve); sons, Randy Hale, Vincent Taring (Samantha), Christopher Hale (Angela) and Rabon Hale (Alicia).  Kay had 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.  She is also survived by her sister, Mrs. Nancy Papas, and her brother, William L. Smelcher. 

Graveside services will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at a time to be determined.
