Obituary of Johnnie Wayne Martin, Jr.

Johnnie Wayne Martin, Jr., 77, of Lexington, SC, husband of Joan Louise “Joanie” Graham Martin passed away Thursday, September 10, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born May 26, 1943 in Ennis, TX, he was the son of the late Johnnie Wayne Martin, Sr. and Elsie Sledge Ross. Johnnie loved his country and entered the United States Army out of high school. Following his military service, he started a career in the logistics industry as a truck driver where he worked until his retirement.

In addition to his wife of 37 years, he is survived by two sons, Thomas L. Martin and Johnnie W. Martin, III (Linda) of Lexington, SC; a daughter, Sheri Martin Hotz (Ed) of Council Bluffs, IA; two step-sons, Michael Hussett of Lexington, SC and Earl Hussett of Michigan; two sisters, Judy Bekavac and Deana Goad, both of TN; a step-brother, Steve Ross of OK and many adored grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Johnnie was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Tammy Martin Brown, and brother, Jimmie L. Martin.

Graveside Services will be conducted at 11 AM, Wednesday, September 16th, at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors.
