Obituary of Marvin Earl Dill

Marvin Earl Dill, 60, of Pelion, husband of Ruth Louise Hopkins Dill, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born January 27, 1960 in Greer, SC, he was the son of Betty Jean Davis Brown, step-father Leroy Brown and the late James Earl Dill. He was employed with Galeana Automotive for more than 30 years where he was a master technician. Marvin enjoyed fishing, camping, dove hunting, shooting pool and spending time with his family.  Marvin was also an avid race fan.  He loved Nascar racing and rarely missed watching one. Marvin always put his family first and will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to his wife and mother, Marvin is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Watson (Michael) of Lexington and Synthia Henderson of West Columbia; two sons, Marvin Earl “Mark” Dill, II of Swansea and Scott Tyler, Jr. of Hawaii; two sisters, Kathy Carver (Rick) of Woodruff and Sherrie Hester of Piedmont; one step-sister, Tammy Childers of Greenville; five grandchildren, Cortland, Chloe, Emily, Ryan and Maddie. He also has a number of nieces, nephews and other extended family, including his two loving fur babies, Sam and Scrappy. Marvin was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Dill.

A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, August 8th at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington with the Rev. Haskell Dill officiating. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1 PM until 2 PM prior to the service. 

The family suggests that those desiring to make memorials please do so to The American Cancer Society.
