Nanny, was always calm and kind and loving. I have so many great memories of time with her. I will always remember coming back to Nanny & Pop’s house. There was just something about her sweet tea and her pickled beets. I remember the carport filled with ripe tomatoes in the summer months and cutting and stacking firewood in the fall. The fresh corn and okra were always a favorite. Nanny spent so much time caring for and listening to her family. I am so glad that I was granted leave and able to take my family down to visit with her two weeks ago. I truly wish it were possible for us to be there for the funeral but I feel she held on until she knew we were all safe at my new duty station. I thank the Lord for giving me such a wonderful grandmother.

I spent many hours with Aunt Annie, Mama Richardson and Aunt Ella Beth on Wednesdays when growing up, after I was married and even after my children were born. We always had fun together and Christmas was always something to look forward to. Aunt Annie always looked so pretty and neat and had such a calm and patient personality. In recent years we talked almost every night and it was one of my "uplifting" experiences of the day and my mother's also. I loved to hear her laugh at some of my tales!!
I miss her and will keep you, Shirley, Johnny, and David in my thoughts and prayers. My deepest love and sympathy to you.
Love, Elizabeth
