Obituary of Larry Drewey Allen

CAYCE – Beloved son, brother and friend, Larry Drewey Allen went to his heavenly home on June 9, 2020 following a lengthy and hard-fought illness. Larry was born in Greenwood, SC on August 30, 1955.

Larry was born in Greenwood, SC but lived most of his life in Cayce, SC. He graduated from Airport High School in 1973. He attended Clemson University and remained an avid Clemson fan throughout his life, as well as a huge NASCAR fan. He enjoyed life as a truck driver, visiting almost all 50 states.

Much of the last 20 years, Larry spent taking great care of his father and serving his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. He was an active member at Broadacres Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, Sunday School Director, teacher, member of the Sanctuary Choir and held various roles on many committees. He also served on the board at God’s Helping Hands and was an officer on the board of the Travelers Protective Association (TPA).

He is survived by this father, LD Allen, Jr.; sister, Rhonda Allen; uncles, John Esper Hall (Rita), Joe Curtis Hall (Faye); aunt, Jeanette Hall; cousins, Kayla Hall Sloan (John), Donna Debrew, Johnny Hall (Sherri) and Trey Sloan.

Larry was predeceased by his mother, Mary Elizabeth Hall Allen, paternal and maternal grandparents, LD and Minnie Allen, and James and Bertha Hall; uncles William Garnett Hall and Billy Mack Allen.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Broadacres Baptist Church Building Fund.
