Obituary of Debra Laird Brown

WEST COLUMBIA - Debra Laird Brown, 70, of West Columbia, passed away peacefully on May 27, 2020 . She was born on July 18, 1949 in Columbia to the late Luther and Hazel Hoover Laird.

She was a 1967 graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and was previously employed by the University of South Carolina.  Debra was a former member of Line Street Baptist and Trinity Baptist Church in West Columbia. After she became homebound, she faithfully watched the television services of First Baptist Church, Columbia.  She loved her family and the Lord and proclaimed that she was a sinner saved by grace.
 
Debra is survived by her daughter, Marcia Butler, of Gilbert; three grandsons, Andrew, Matthew and Gregory; her sister-in-law Ann Laird Joers, and nephews Chad and Danny Laird; her aunt, Ruth K. Hoover and cousins, Craig and Julie Houston and Lee Hoover.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Larry Jacob Laird and her uncle, James Ray Hoover.

Graveside services will be held at Oaklawn Cemetery, 1200 Pine Street, Pelion, SC, on Saturday, May 30, 2020 at 12 noon.
