Obituary of Evelyn Liddle Taylor

Evelyn Liddle Taylor of Gilbert, SC, 59, passed away peacefully May 1, 2020. 

Evelyn was the wife of Tim Taylor; married for nearly 40 years. She was the daughter of the late Donald and Inez Liddle. She is survived by her husband, her daughter, Stephanie Taylor; stepmother, Audrey Liddle; siblings: Hannah Baker (Bill), Kim Greene (Travis), Carol Wilkerson (Gerrit Hoogenboom), Greg Wilkerson (Susan) and Joe Perez; nieces and nephews: Jordan Baker, Josh Baker, and Samantha Wilkerson.  She was predeceased by her parents, Donald and Inez Liddle, and brother, Glenn Wilkerson.

 
She grew up in the Cayce area and spent her childhood summers visiting family in Alabama. Evelyn attended Airport High School and married her high school sweetheart, Tim. She was Membership Manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of SC for 25 years before retiring in 2018. She was instrumental in assisting the growth of Lexington County Girls Soccer. She was a member of Cayce United Methodist Church and kept her faith throughout her life.

Evelyn spent her life loving and supporting her family. Always an animal lover, she loved her dogs and other farm animals – she grew up horseback riding.  She enjoyed gardening, landscaping, reading, and do-it-yourself home improvement projects. She loved traveling to Charleston with her family for trips to the beach and historic tours. Her last trip to Charleston was with Tim for their 35^th wedding anniversary. Evelyn also enjoyed attending Alabama football games. As an avid fan of the Crimson Tide, her last trip to Tuscaloosa was for the 2017 Spring A-Day Game. And, in true fan fashion her last words were, “Roll Tide.” 

The family would like to thank the staff of National Health Care (NHC) Lexington for their care and support.

A celebration of life service will be conducted with their family and friends on Friday, May 8, 2020 at 2:00pm at Thompson Funeral Home Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Pets, Inc. of West Columbia in the name of Evelyn Taylor.
