Mary L. Berresford

West Columbia- Mary L. Berresford died Monday, March 23, 2020 at the age of 85.  Born in Columbia, South Carolina on April 28, 1934 she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Lilah Lucas. She loved her family, and nothing made her happier than spending time with them. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Mrs. Berresford was an active member of Whaley Street United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James B. Berresford, and an infant daughter, Mary Lisa. In addition to her husband and daughter, she was preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Lucas, and a sister, Leslie Rogers. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Lucas and Kate Berresford, two grandchildren, Gabriella and James, and a sister Lorine Norton (Ray), as well as a host of other relatives and friends that will miss her dearly. In light of recent events, the family will hold a private graveside service. The family has entrusted Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Memorial to Whaley Street United Methodist Church.
