Obituary of Timothy Jonathan Robirds

Timothy Jonathan "Jon" Robirds, 48, of Sumter, SC, passed away March 5, 2020. He was born on May 22, 1971 in Kansas City, Kansas to Timothy G. Robirds and Barbara Robirds.

When Jon lived in Monroeville, PA, he enjoyed being in Boy Scout Troop 97 and he was also a member of the Monroeville Soccer Club.

While in the eighth grade at St. Anne's School in Sumter, there was national testing for natural science ability; Jon ranked in the top 2% of students in the United States.  He attended St. Jude Central High School in Sumter, SC and graduated from Sumter High School.  Afterward he studied industrial electricity at Central Carolina Technical College.

Jon was an industrial and commercial electrician for 29 years. He was very good at assessing problems and solving them quickly. He immensely enjoyed his work and shared his knowledge with others.

He enjoyed collecting rocks and unusual bottles. Jon also enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, video games, and spending time with friends.

Jon is survived by his loving parents, his brother-in-law, Richard Parker, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. We will miss you and your witty sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Loretta and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the SPCA Humane Organization, 1140 South Guignard Drive, Sumter, S.C.

A rosary service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2020 from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. A visitation will follow from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm, with a funeral service beginning at 12:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
