Our father, J.A. Rawls, worked with your father at Southern Railroad. Our father worked in the mid-forties until he retired in 1978. He was a fireman and a promoted engineer. He made many trips out of St. Andrews Yard. Our parents, J.A. and Mildred, were in charge of the railroad club which met at Faith Lutheran Church, West Columbia. Our father died in 1997. Our mother continued running the club until her death in 2007.
We are sorry for your loss. Railroad men were special! In Christian Love, Ada Rawls Jolly and Brenda Rawls Price

Bobby,
My deepest and sincere condolences to you and your entire family. I shall always remember Uncle Robert as a kind soul; a dear friend, in every sense of the word, to my Dad and Mom.
As he entered Heaven, I am sure the Saints welcomed him with open arms and warm hearts. Wonderful memories of him are forever carved in my mind and heart.
May GOD comfort you and your family, today and henceforth, as you all reflect on Uncle Robert’s contributions to his country and the love and life he shared with the ones he loved and treasured so much.
Grace be with you all.

My father-in-law, Jim Backman, had the pleasure of being roommates with Mr. Robert at Morningside. Mr. Robert was a very nice gentleman and was always listening to music. It was a sincere pleasure getting to know him in the short while Daddy was there.
May your family find peace in all the wonderful memories you have of him. God's blessings of comfort on all of you.

My sincere condolences to the family. God remembers the dead; those in his memory will come back to life. Billions will be brought back to life with the hope of living forever in an abundance of peace (john 5:28, 29). Being able to call all the stars by name, God can easily remember people whom he will resurrect (Psalm 147:4). These wonderful promises always comfort me in difficult times and hope they do the same for you
