Jean Rabon

Obituary of Jean O'Brien Rabon

Jean O’Brien Rabon (83 years young) entered into rest on Friday, November 29, 2019 in her home, surrounded by her family and friends.

Jean was born in Pelion, South Carolina on July 22, 1936 to the late Homer and Gertrude O’Brien. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in June of 1955. Shortly after graduation, she married her high school sweetheart, Ralph Rabon. They shared over 61 wonderful years of marriage. She worked for Parks Recreation and Tourism until she retired after 25 years of service.

She loved playing tennis, traveling, Gamecock football and baseball, and most importantly, she loved her family unconditionally and always asked how they were doing. She attended, watched and cheered at everyone’s endeavors. She was the most loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and person you would ever want to meet. When she had visitors at her home, she always greeted them with a smile. If there was ever such a thing, she took loving to a fault and always wanted and saw the best for everyone.

Even though she battled various medical issues up until her homecoming, she remained positive as one could be. Hopefully, not selfish, and this is her son speaking, I take comfort in the fact that I was able to see her two days before her homecoming, while she couldn’t speak, when I said “Hello Momma” she would still open her eyes, if only for a brief moment. She will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved her.

She knew and loved the Lord, and upon her request to remain at home her final days, her loving husband devoted himself to making sure she had the best care possible. The family would like to extend their thanks to Shirley Roush for the wonderful care she provided.

Jean is survived by her husband, Ralph Rabon, son, James Rabon (Jill), six grandchildren; Kristy (Larry) Self, Michelle (Dutch) Duchnowski, Brandon (Samantha) Rabon, Kyle (Bryana) Ressor, Dillion Ressor, and Evan Reesor, and seven great-grandchildren; Aiden Rabon, Matthew Rabon, Claire Self, Breelyn Lanigan, Blake Rabon, Mason Self, and Addison Rabon; her brother, Charles (Patsy) O’Brien, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded by her parents, and sisters; Joanne Felder and Leola Condra, and brother: Harold O’Brien.
