Agnes Patterson Braziel, 83, of West Columbia, SC, entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus on October 21, 2019 while a resident of Morningside of Lexington.

Born June 8,1936 in Shelby, NC, she was the eldest daughter of the late Wister Orvan (W.O.) and Selma Lemons Patterson. Her family later moved to York, SC; she graduated in 1954 from Hickory Grove High School.  At the age of eighteen, she moved to Columbia, SC to pursue further education.  She attended and received a certificate in Secretarial Science from Columbia Commercial College.

During this time, she met the love of her life, John H Braziel; they began dating and were married June 17th, 1956.

She went to work at the SC Department of Mental Health in December of 1965, in the purchasing department; she retired in June 1991, from her last job as a procurement officer in the Procurement Department of SCDMH.

She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Lexington, SC and a member of the Frances Willis Sunday School class.

She loved her family, especially her grandchildren; she would tell them that she was “born to be a grandmother”.  She loved her Lord, her church family and many friends; she was an avid reader; she loved cooking, traveling with her husband, going on many bus tours throughout the US and Canada.  Every summer, they would have a garden and she would can or freeze the produce that came from the garden.
