He retired from Pennsylvania Glass Sand Company, and after retirement, he opened his own fishing rod and trolling motor repair shop. He continued working at his shop well into his 80’s. In addition to his family, the one thing that Earl loved was bass fishing. He was a member of Bassmasters, and participated in many fishing tournaments. He wrote many articles on bass fishing for The State Newspaper. He was also known to join in on talk-radio programs on bass fishing.
