Earl Greenaway passed away September 26, 2019. Born in Lewistown, PA, he was a son of the late Raymond and Rose Lockett Greenaway. He married his high school sweetheart, Anna Runkle, and they shared 63 years of happiness together until her passing in 2011. Earl served his country honorably in the US Navy, and earned a Purple Heart for his bravery in the Philippines during WW II. He retired from Pennsylvania Glass Sand Company, and after retirement, he opened his own fishing rod and trolling motor repair shop. He continued working at his shop well into his 80’s. In addition to his family, the one thing that Earl loved was bass fishing. He was a member of Bassmasters, and participated in many fishing tournaments. He wrote many articles on bass fishing for The State Newspaper. He was also known to join in on talk-radio programs on bass fishing.
Earl is survived by his son, Jeff Greenaway (Terry) of Simpsonville, grandchildren, Dallas Greenaway (Brittany) and Alex Greenaway; great-grandson, Owen Greenaway; great nephew, Derek Greenaway (Denise), with whom he shared his deep love of Penn State University; and other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Earl was predeceased by his son, Chris Greenaway and a brother, Sherman Greenaway.
