Obituary of Judy Hook Ellisor

Judy Hook Ellisor, 78, of West Columbia, SC was called to her Heavenly Home on August 9, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on April 10, 1941 in Columbia, SC to the late Wilbur and Elda Smith Hook. 

She married her high school sweetheart, Donald Ellisor, who preceded her in death.

Judy graduated from Brookland-Cayce High School and Baptist Hospital School of Nursing.  She loved caring for people and was a compassionate RN at many places including Baptist and Lexington Hospitals, a Pediatric Office, the Columbia Tuberculosis Center, and Mary E White of Midlands Center where she cared for adults with severe disabilities.   These experiences were a blessing to Melody and Janis when they became mothers of special needs children.

Judy also had a creative side and enjoyed embroidery, gardening, creating flower arrangements, singing hymns, sending cards, reading, and collecting butterflies.  She loved how beautiful their colors were and how each one was unique.  The family will wear a butterfly pin from her vast collection to her service.

She was a lifelong member of Mt Hebron United Methodist Church and the Hands for God Sunday School Class.

Judy is survived by her children Melody (Chris) Hall,  Eddie (Alison) Ellisor, Janis  (Tom) Lewis, her adorable grandchildren Geoffrey Hatfield, Andrew Hatfield, Amy Hatfield, Mollie (Ellis) Engram, Bailey (Taylor) Huffstetler, Aubrey Ellisor, Jimmy (Tori) Lewis, Keri (Aaron) Garlington, Kati (Corey) Lewis, Bonnie Lewis and five great grandchildren, her brother I. D. (Mary) Hook, and her sister-in-law Sally Wise Hook.

She was preceded in death by her brother Wayne Hook.

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home in Lexington, 4720 Augusta Road, Lexington, SC 29073 on Monday, August 12, 2019 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM.   Funeral services will be at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, 3050 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169 on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at 10:30AM with Pastor Kevin Cooley officiating.  Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
