Obituary of Anthony Famiano
Anthony “Tony” Famiano, 73, of Blythewood, passed away at the Dorn Veterans Administration Hospital on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 in Columbia, South Carolina.
He was born February 11, 1946 to Steve and Jean Famiano in Schenectady, New York. On December 10, 1977 he married Joanne Rawls in Columbia, South Carolina. Anthony enjoyed spending time traveling, spending time with family and friends and playing with his dog “Chief”.
Anthony loved the US Army and retired from the United States Army after 22 years of active federal service as a (CW3) Chief Warrant Officer. He then became an employee then owner of a food service company supporting Military bases around the country. Anthony was a great cook and spent over 35 years of his life in the food service industry.
Anthony is survived by his wife Joanne; his 3 sons, Kenny Callaghan of Virginia, Dennis Callaghan and wife Lavonna of California and Jerry Callaghan and wife Mercedes of Texas; 6 grandchildren Carolann, Nicole, Ryan, Amy, Krystal and Stephen; 1 sister Patty Flanagan, and husband Michael of California; 1 brother Stephen Famiano and wife Lucy of California; as well as many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; mother-in-law Vivian Rawls and his beloved sister Roseanne Famiano Ware, son Ricky Helms and uncle Louis VanWormar.
Funeral Services will be conducted at 10 AM, Monday, July 22nd at the Thompson Funeral Home Greenlawn Memorial Park Chapel with the Rev. James D. Lee officiating. Burial will follow at 12 Noon at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon from 4 to 5 PM at the funeral home.
