We met Dick and Helen through our shared appreciation of the good things in life: family, friends, and Porsches. Dick was one of the founders and the chief instructor at Carolina Motorsports, where he ensured that we had a number of great experiences while learning to be better drivers. For Dick, it was always "safety first," whether driving a Porsche on the road or a boat on the lake. He was modest about his own accomplishments, but clearly proud of his and Helen's children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed. With our deepest sympathy to Helen and the family, Bob and Maria Malstrom.

I became friends with Dick at Crooked Creek Gym in Chapin. We were about the same age and had lots of stories to share with each other.

We drove to the race track on other side of Camden to watch Dick drive the course.
When he came into his pit after driving around up to 135 mph,we were in his pit when he came in and he dropped his net I have never in my long life seen a bigger
smile on his face....He truly loved driving his Porshe!!!!! I will always remember that smile!!! Always upbeat....We will miss him at gym.

Dick was a great Gym buddy at Crooked Creek. He always had a friendly and positive attitude. We shared our passion for automobiles and I will cherish the memory of him letting me drive his Porsche along a winding Chapin road. Dick even came over once and helped me with the wiring on my model A Ford. Quite a come down for a former Submariner and Porsche man...but that was Dick. He will be missed by many.
Our condolences go out to the Family.

Our love and memories of Dick have a long history - having met in 1972 -- Dick and Helen are responsible for introducing us and starting our lives together. For that we will be eternally grateful. Dick and Helen have been such great friends over all of those years, we are just so glad we were able to spend time with them during the past year. RIP, Dick, and our condolences to Helen and all of his family.

It was nice getting to know you these past twenty years in the Vintage Boys Club and PCA. Debbie and I enjoyed our Christmas party conversations with you and Helen. We shared our retired military stories and yours were so much more interesting than mine. Rest in peace friend.
