Obituary of Gus A Caughman

 

 

Gus A. Caughman, 51, of Columbia, SC passed away on May 15, 2019 in Columbia, SC. Gus was born in Philadelphia, PA on May 25, 1967 to Gustave Burch and Joann Caughman. Mr. Caughman was a Master Sergeant in the United States Air Force where he served his country for 20 years. 

 

Gus has a Masters of Human Relations from the University of Oklahoma, a Masters of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from South University, an Associate Degree in Applied Science in Personnel Administration, and Bachelor of Science from Excelsior College.

 

Gus is survived by his mother Joann Caughman; a son, Taji (Kiamesha) Caughman; two daughters, Courtney Johnson and Sydni Caughman; two brothers, Moses Edward Jr. and Gary (Tasha) Summers; two sisters, Chianti (Dwayne) Maria Williams and Pamela (Randolph) Burch Syphertt; aunt Josephine Riley and uncle Herbert Caughman. Gus also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. We'd also like to make a special mention of Michael Barron.

 

He is preceded in death by his father, Gustuv Burch and one, brother-in-law, Lawrence Caughman.

 

The family will receive friends for a visitation on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park from 3:00 pm until 4:30 pm.  A celebration of life will be from 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm in the funeral home chapel. A committal with full military honors will be on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at Fort Jackson National Cemetery, 4170 Percival Road, Columbia, SC 29229 at 10:00 am.
