Obituary of Patsy Bannister Newman

Patsy “MawMaw” Bannister Newman, 74 passed away Wednesday May 15th, 2019.  She was born September 24th, 1944 in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Howard L and Frankie Limbaugh Bannister.  In addition to her parents Patsy was preceded in death by her husband Ronald G Newman, brothers Howard Jr, Bobby, and Adolph Bannister as well as her grandson George Rawl.

Mrs. Newman is survived by her daughters Angie (Eddie) Rawl and Linda Newman; son Ronald Ben (Heather) Newman; grandchildren Jessica Anne Rawl, Ronald Zackary Newman, Olivia Nicole Newman, Steven Clark Newman; brothers Richard (Tessie) Bannister and Steven (Cathy) Bannister.

Patsy was a mother first and foremost, avid equestrian and animal lover.   Her family and dogs miss her beyond words can express.  She was such a mighty force and always filled the room with her energy.  You will have never met another woman with as much perseverance and strength to have overcome all of life’s challenges.  Through this, she still found a way to raise three children and spoil five grandchildren.  She always shared her love of horses and animals and taught us how to love and respect all living things.   All her children inherited her spirit to plant in the spring and admire the beautiful life that grew in front of us.  Her baby boy Ben was the only man she truly loved, other than her dad.  She loved her family so whole hearted that it’s going to feel so empty without her.

She ensured that her love was felt through her grandchildren by sharing all of her life’s experiences.  Her eldest granddaughter shares her love of horses and Patsy shared all of her knowledge and teachings with her.  She watched Jessica thrive as she learned to ride and was a competitive equestrian.   Patsy shared her love of harness horse driving with George when he was just 9 years old and really enjoyed driving in the pastures.  Olivia and Patsy shared similar sleep styles, which meant they were up all night.  They spent many of nights talking and became the best of friends.  She watched Zack afterschool when he was younger and they would always drive the golf cart together.  It was a special time for them.  Her youngest grandchild, Steven, always reminded her of her baby boy Ben.  She loved all of her grandchildren and cherished all of their moments together.

Everyone who knew Patsy knew that she was just as spicy as sweet.  Her heart was huge and she didn’t mind setting you straight if you needed it.  She will be missed dearly.
