Obituary of Garry L. Amick
Garry L. Amick went home on Saturday, May 11, 2019 surrounded by family that loved him immensely.
He was the neighborhood handyman and jack-of-all-trades. If something was broken (and even sometimes if it wasn't) he could definitely fix it. He was passionate about hunting, whether it be for deer, antique bottles, or maybe even a little bit of gold. And if there's fishing in Heaven, you better believe he already has his line in the water.
He believed in helping others, treating people with kindness, and always having a funny story. The world would be a better place if there were more people like him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen Amick; son, Brandon Montgomery (Dani); stepson, Virgil Patrick (Jessica); stepdaughter, Ashley Bender (Scott); mother, Murvelle Amick; siblings, Jimmy Amick, Marilyn Harrell, Sharon Birmingham and Marlene Cobia; and seven amazing grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in the chapel at Thompson Funeral Home of Lexington located at 4720 Augusta Highway in Lexington, SC 29073 on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends for visitation immediately following the memorial service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association. Or just do something nice for someone, like Garry would have done.
