Hi Gail, Andrew, Emily & Sarah and families, I read in disbelief of Dave’s passing. I am truly sorry for your loss. What a great guy you had and loved as your husband and Dad. I cared very much for your sweet family as we spent time together during my USC studies and work. You were my family away from home and I treasure the fun we shared. Everyone’s grown now and you have spouses, careers, and children. Gail, you’re a Grandma! I hope we can reconnect across the miles. And again, I’m so very sorry. God be with you all. I had the pleasure of meeting David when I first started with NETA in November 2017, he shortly retired after our initial meeting but in that short time he was so nice to me. Always stopped in my office to say hello. Just a really kind soul and everyone had nothing but great things to say about him. I pray that God gives you all strength during this time of bereavement.

David was a kind and patient friend to me throughout my time at Brookland Cayce HS and for a time afterward when we shared a little hovel of an apartment bordering Horseshoe Pond. It annoyed me that David was always cooler than me, but that was just who he was; he was the most even and thoughtful person I've known in many years. I am sad that he's gone. But I celebrate his life, which I know was rich and full, and I know that he will live on through his family and friends. Good bye Dave, it was a pleasure to have known you!

I am so shocked and sorry to learn of David’s death. We were friends in high school. He was a sweet man and you should have enjoyed more years with him. I live out of state now and cannot attend the service unfortunately. Please accept my condolences on your loss.

My condolences to Gail and the family. David was the best of friends to me in the days of my employment at DHEC. It was my first job, and I well remember David, Teddy Allen and Pete Stevens taking me under their wing, making me feel welcome. He was easily a friend to all. Many a day, a group of us in Finance often sat in the canteen playing Uno, going to Max to eat or Edna's. He was a good man, a compassionate man. I was impressed in the time I knew him as to how much he loved his wife and children. And, I remember that old, was it a Chevy, that he drove at the time. Gail, I thought of you too as a wonderful wife and mother. He was so proud; a family man for sure. I remember when you two lived in an apartment off of Jarvis Klapman and that big old house you moved into. Gail, I remember too a particular birthday cake you had made for David one year, that made me blush and everyone laugh. And even then he loved fishing. I remember a story of when he took his young child fishing in a boat, and turned to find that child eating the bait, a cricket, I believe. He loved you all. He moved on from DHEC and it's been many years now. I am glad to read that he was still fishing. I am sorry to hear of his death.

David served on our Still Hopes Board of Trustees from March 2013 till March 2019 and it was such a pleasure getting to know him. He was thoughtful and kind, without exception. He served Still Hopes with diligence and concern and took his role, first as a Trustee, then as the organization's Treasurer and later as Vice-Chair of the Board very seriously. I'm so glad that David became a part of my life and I will remember him as a Trustee that always had the best interest of Still Hopes, and of his fellow Trustees, on open display. Most of all, I will remember him as Friend!
